How pricing & the trial work
Whelpkeep gives you a six-week free trial with every feature on, then a choice of an annual plan or activating one litter at a time.
Whelpkeep starts with a generous free trial, then lets you pay in whichever way suits how often you breed. There are two paid options, and if you're not on one, you carry on with the free plan — you never lose your data. Prices are on the pricing page.
The six-week free trial
You get a six-week free trial with every feature switched on and no card required. The trial clock starts the moment you name your kennel, so you can explore everything before deciding to pay.
Note — The trial covers the whole app, not a cut-down version. What you try is what you get.
Two ways to pay
When the trial ends, you choose how to pay based on how many litters you raise:
- Annual plan — A$249/year. Unlimited litters for a year. If you breed more than a couple of litters a year, this is the simpler choice.
- Per litter — A$99 one-off, per litter. Activate one litter at a time. Good if you only have the occasional litter and would rather pay as you go.
An annual subscription already covers every litter, so if you're on the annual plan you're never asked to activate a litter — it's all included.
If you don't have an active paid plan
What happens depends on whether you have ever paid.
If you never subscribed, the trial simply ends and you move to the free plan, which stays writable. The paid conveniences switch off — deposits beyond your first, buyer puppy pages, AI auto-fill, the evidence pack — but the record-keeping core keeps working. You can still add animals, litters, pups, health records, weights and photos, uncapped, for as long as you like.
If you have paid before and that plan lapses or you cancel, your account becomes read-only. That means:
- You keep full access to view and export all of your data — animals, litters, buyers, records, contracts, everything.
- Adding and editing are paused until you subscribe again.
Nothing is deleted and nothing is locked away in either case. Read-only is a pause on new work, not a loss of what you've built.
Tip — Because read-only still lets you export everything, you can always get your records out, whenever you need them.
Where to manage it
You manage your plan under Account → Security & Billing, with buttons to Go annual or Activate this litter. Payment and invoices are handled by Stripe, and there's a manage-billing portal for invoices and your payment method.
